    How to Make the Bed

The bedroom is always paid attention to by the HouseBoy or HouseMan everyday. Typically the linens should be stripped and washed at least once a week. The first time you perform the task of upkeep for the bed, the following tips should help. When you strip the linens, blankets and pillow cases and comforter do the best you can to make sure the sleeping pillows and blankets don't end up on the floor, put them on a chest top, or a chair is better than having them on the floor while the sheets are being laundered. Recollect that you can scent the sheets with Lavender when you transfer them to the dryer. Look at the mattress pad...when was the last time it was laundered, changed? Do the best you can, make notes and report to your man the findings and offer suggestions. Ask your man when was the last time the mattress was turned, and turn it, flip it, if it needs it. I bet it does! Keep a record and make a plan to regularly turn the mattress; Once a month or every season change are good suggestions. Communicate with your man and see what would be best for him. While the linens are being laundered this is a perfect time to dust the frame of the bed, the foot board and the head board and the side tables.....Look under the bed and see what you might have to deal with. Be respectful in the bedroom, Your man or men of the house are the ones you are taking care of. Put "it" away. Throw it away without a second thought. If you need to get the vacuum out to suck up pet hair, lent, dead bodies..or get last nights trick.....out from under the bed...do it.. Keep the vacuum handy, for it will be the last thing you do when the bed is put back together. Using the Lavender solution with a dusting cloth to perform the dusting duty will aid your cleaning. This is also a good time to dust all window sills, the tops of door jams and door tops, ect. There is a true art to dusting, get better at it every time you do it. Look at the ceiling fan if there is one; checking the blades for dust. You might want to plan a super clean and start from the ceiling down....but not on the first day! The Art of Making the Bed Start by putting the cases back onto the sleeping pillows. Check to find the seams of the case and start right then to stack them, (Not on the Floor) with the seams all going the same way. When Putting the pillows back on the bed, put the seam side down and all open sides inward. I suggest to lay the pillows flat instead of standing them upward, even if there are decorative pillows to finish off the bed. Move to the fitted sheet and tuck it in as tight as you can all the way around. Smooth out wrinkles and make it a smooth, tight, flat surface. The flat sheet should be placed with the (pretty side) down. You can check the hem of the top of the sheet to determine this. The reason has two fold: The first is that the outside of the sheet always tends to be the softest to the skin. Here is the second: Pull the flat sheet all the way to the top of the bed, allowing the design hem to extend over the mattress. A good measurement is to line up the hem with the edge of the mattress. When you apply the blanket, pull the blanket to the very edge of the mattress, thus enabling the sheet hem to be pulled back down over the blanket top and displaying the seamed or embroidered hem. This also helps keep the blanket and sheet in place. Continue with other comforters and the spread and smooth out as neat as you can, recollecting to center all linens the best you can. Arrange the decorative pillows, and then finish up the room by vacuuming the floors. If you perform this task every week, the room will become cleaner and cleaner each time you do it. Good Luck and ask me any questions that might arise.
